Someone broke into my house today while I was gone. Makes me mad. I have a nice house and work hard for my stuff. Rural area, takes the cops 30 minutes tops to get to my house. I am thinking of buying a closed circuit camera system that records to DVR and a set of motion lights for the doors and an audible alarm system. What else should I consider. Oh yeah, I just got my .38 special out and made sure it fires good.

You could check with an alarm monitoring service that calls the cops or fire dept when the respective alarm goes off. I think they run around 20-ish bucks a month..
